Ananya Chakravarti is associate professor of history at Georgetown University. Her first book, The Empire of Apostles: Religion, Accommodation and the Imagination of Empire in Early Modern Brazil and India (Oxford, 2018) received an honorable mention for the Association of Asian Studies' Bernard Cohn Book Prize, awarded to the best first book on South Asia. With s support from the National Endowment of the Humanities, Chakravarti is currently completing a second monograph on the history of the Konkan. Other current projects include a textbook on modern South Asian history beyond borders and a co-authored volume on the global history of emotions.
