David Stefan Doddington is Senior Lecturer in North American History, and Programme Convenor for the History Department, at Cardiff University, UK. He is the author of Contesting Slave Masculinity in the American South (Cambridge University Press, 2018), Old Age and American Slavery (Cambridge University Press, 2023) and, alongside Professor Enrico Dal Lago, editor of Writing the History of Slavery (Bloomsbury Academic, 2022). His research interests address slavery, race, age, and gender in the US South, with a particular focus on themes of resistance, survival, and conflict in slave societies.
